Soulwax - Much Against Everyone's Advice (FMR)

Belgium might not be the most rocking place, but when their bands get it right, they really get it right. Joing dEUS as a Belgian band to hit upon greatness is Soulwax, a five-piece who dabble in emotional and futuristic rock. This was released in Belgium almost three years ago, but incredibiliy, sound light years ahead of much 2001 rock. If Soulwax incorporate strings or programming, it is done with a fluidity few bands can manage, giving their songs a real humanity, matched nicely by the lyrics. Best of all, Soulwax imbue their music with a sense of humour that puts other uptight groups to shame

The verdict: Four out of Five stars
In a word: advisable
